I like to sleep in total darkness like a vampire so the light from this clock is a big disappointment. So using the projection just adds more light to an already too bright room. If I didn't like the nature sounds so much I'd totally take it back as the lights are so bright you could use them to land an F/A-18 on the deck of an aircraft carrier in the middle of the ocean using only the light from this clock. Like the brightest clock display I've ever seen. Which leads me to the reason I'm giving this clock only 4 out of 5 stars. I thought I'd really like the projection feature but I honestly don't use it much as it kind of lights up the room. Every night I fall asleep to Summer night which is crickets and light night sounds and every morning I wake up to the same soothing sound. I also really like the six nature sounds that I can wake up to or just listen to constantly or for a set amount of time. It takes up kind of a large footprint but it's not horrible. It's nice and flat so it doesn't fall over or get knocked over easily or at all. It looked good, I liked the idea of it projecting the time on my ceiling or wall, and I really like the idea of having six nature sounds to listen to or wake up by. My alarm clock has been acting up and I've been in need of a new one, so when I was shopping a few weeks ago and happened upon the **SoundSpa Clock Radio with Time Projection, **I had to buy it. True It's (almost) the alarm clock of my dreams All in all it wasn't worth the extra money to buy this clock. There is an alarm and radio on it though. I felt like I was paying extra for a setting that I didn't need. I liked that there were a variety to choose from, but I didn't find that the sounds helped me in any way. The nature sounds on the clock were relaxing. I tried it for a week and it annoyed me so much and kept me from getting a good night's rest. It ended up being brighter than a night light would have been and that was even on the lowest setting. The clock time that projected on the ceiling was too bright for me. I can't sleep very well if there is a night light, book light or anything. I soon found out that it wasn't as great as I had thought. If you don’t like lights in your sleeping environment, make sure you choose a sound machine that lets you turn off its night light or power indicator light.I bought this clock for my husband as a gift and because I sleep in the same room as him it was pretty much for me as well. Some sound machines include night lights. Use the sound machine to help you avoid distracting noises while you work and take breaks when the sound stops. If you want to use a white noise machine to fall asleep but don’t want to leave it on all night, look for a device with a built-in timer.Īnother option is to use a white noise machine’s timer functionality to set focused work sessions. That lets you set it to play loudly enough to cover up background noise but not so loudly that it keeps you awake. If you’re planning to travel with a sound machine, consider buying a battery-powered model for better portability.Ī key feature of white noise sound machines is an adjustable volume setting.Įspecially if you’re using white or ambient noise while you sleep, you’ll want fine control over the volume of the sound. If you use your sound machine every night, choose a sound machine that you can plug into the wall. Many sound machines must be plugged into an outlet, but some sound machines can run on rechargeable or replaceable batteries. Sound machines also generally include timer and volume settings. Some even feature lullabies or soothing instrumental music. Models usually also include many sound options to choose from, including natural sounds like ocean waves, rustling wind, and thunder fan sounds and ambient electronic sound options. Sound machines are also called white noise machines as many models produce white noise, which is a specific frequency of noise that sounds like radio static. Sound machines aim to solve that problem by covering up distracting noises with soothing sounds.Ī sound machine night light produces a calming, relatively stable sound to help you stay asleep and prevent other sounds from distracting you or keeping you awake. Street noise, neighbors, and even your own family members can create noise that makes it hard to sleep or focus.
